Revival

Through the gospel we receive a Spirit that helps us to overflow the power of God into our lives. The Spirit comes to fan into flame the fire of the Father’s love for the lost, broken and needy. In 1904 the fire of God fell in Wales on a man named Evan Roberts and 150,000 people came to Jesus. If the fire burned in Roberts and Finny and Wesley and Campbell and in the hearts of Christians in Iran right now, then that fire can burn in us as well! I think in the UK today when we think of “light” we often think of electricity, but in the Bible “light” is always “fire”. With electric lighting it’s relatively easy, safe and controllable. But fire is dangerous! It spreads, it’s hard to put out! When you stand in front of a fire you can feel it, see it, and after a while you start to smell like it. A forest fire can travel up to 14mph and burn up everything in its path. The fire of the Sun produces enough power every second to be equivalent to 1 trillion megaton bombs. But what is that compared to the fire of our God?
